This was not going to end like one of the tragic stories she'd been forced to read in English class. This was going to end like a badass video-game-turned movie with a lame soundtrack and fake gore. No one she gave a shit about was going to die. They were all going to be cool when she found them, because Ginger refused to accept an alternative ending.
If this was a movie, she would have had popcorn. Right now she was running with nothing at all in her hands but the knowledge that she had to get there in time. Otherwise Odd would end up like one of those B-list reject actors with nothing better to do than play the poor dead guy.
She didn't really like that ending.
"Odd! Hey, answer me, bastard!"
This was the street, covered in broken pieces of rock and concrete. This was the place, because she smelled the blood long before she found the man named Odd Thomas.
