Laharl hadn't been kidding about his first dibs. Not once.

Of course, the situation was a little different than he'd originally thought. Before it had been beating up the monsters just because, dammit, they'd been nothing but a pain since day one. Now there was the whole matter of the human soul trapped inside. Geez...

Putting them out of their misery seemed like the best idea to him. Let their souls pass on and be free. If he'd somehow become one of those things, he sure as hell wouldn't have wanted to remain as one.

With Etna alongside, he had easily picked out Clover from the bunch. His plan was to lure it back to the city. It would be easier to deal with on land than the water. The larger they are, the harder they fall, after all. And land is a hell of a lot harder than water.

"Ready?" he asked his vassal, giving her a glance.

Spreading her wings out, Etna smirked.

"Born ready Prince. Born ready."

Grinning to her, Laharl led the way to the Manhattan island shore, landing on top of one of the buildings closest to the water that hadn't been destroyed by one of the creatures. First things first, to get Clover's attention, and hopefully the other people taking care of the other monsters would keep them busy.

Pooling energy to his hand, he release a shot of his power towards the monster. Not powerful enough to damage, just to get her attention. In theory, anyways.

With his shot, the boy yelled out, almost painfully loud.

"OI! STUPID MONSTER!"

It was probably a bad idea to do this, possibly dangerous too. He knew he'd hear it from the others if they found out (and he really hoped they wouldn't), but Derek did anyways. While he had been wandering and looking for a few people, he heard a very faint something, bad. He forgot all of what he had been doing and searched for that fluctuating something until he ended up outside.

From his vantage point, he could see the fights against the giant monsters going on... and hear the Music, painful, chaotic, some of the worst things he had ever heard. It made him shiver and cringe. The souls inside had been warped into something... he couldn't quite understand. Grimly, he realized this was what Tagruato planned for its "assets": everyone, man, woman, child, friend, and family ( ... )

You can ask for freedom as well... and you'll have it eba04 October 6 2009, 01:27:28 UTC
Derek's clutched his hands a little tighter when he heard the wails from one of them. He couldn't tell which one. Before receiving the antidote, he doubted he would have even been able to hear their dissonance, so he had nothing to recognize them with.

His eyes remained closed. There was no reason to watch; he wasn't there for that. But even through his shades and closed eyelids, he could tell brilliant lights from attacks filled the sky. The melodies of the fighters pulsed, and Derek struggled to push them aside and focus solely on the lost ones.

You thought you could get out of this that easily, Fro? Morris felt a sort of indignance when he'd recognized that shift, somewhere. He hadn't heard that broken, sick tune before, but when an Agent took on a tune it helped things get a lot clearer. And Morris was just tired of his friend assuming that no one else would be able to handle things.

Listening to the pain in those rotted melodies, Morris doubted Derek would be able to handle that by himself anyway. Not that he needed any more incentive to join in.

Morris needed to find his partner before he could properly spread the strain of those songs between them; the tune had already pressed in hard, and before even working he could feel it starting to churn illness in his gut.

A-- -ou o-e -e -o--i-- i- -e-u--Morris didn't look at Derek as he stepped beside him, swaying in soft, supporting time. These creatures... they'd been hurting ( ... )
