Nice to hear from you! As a Methodist, I love your 'hippy dippy' description! It's perfect! I have dabbled in various churches and came back to the Methodist church (where I was raised) because nothing (imho) beats the elegant simplicity of John Wesley's view on grace and faith. Good for you in making the connection between faith and works! Woohoo! Another Wesleyism.
Good for you on going back to school. I've had the random thought over the last few years that being a hospital chaplain would be something I would find fulfilling and enjoy, but the closest seminary is 3 hours away, so not exactly a realistic option. If I were ten years younger...yeah, I'd find a way to make it work. But then again, you never know where the road will lead you.
I have started Christmas knitting as well. Do you play on Ravelry? It's a great place to find like-minded knitters, just be careful you don't get sucked into spending all your time on the boards. If you go there, look me up...mscorkill

Wow! Going back to school! Go you! It's probably no surprise that I'm very happy for you. And while I'm not Methodist, I do consider myself kind of like a cousin: Church of the Nazarene - we're definitely both Wesleyan in our heritage. So feel free to contact me if you have any desire to chat about anything related to this new part of your journey. :)
My roommate is Nazarene. Well, in the abstract way where she identifies it but does not really attend church or seem to know what it entails specifically.
I will definitely be chatting with you lots in the coming days, I'm sure. :-)
mmm... can't say much about fandom. Mostly I just watch and write (don't dive too deep in the crazy pools) -- Leverage and Flashpoint primarily right now. Oh,and some Sherlock... only managed to finish one, but I've started lots. :P Inspiration. It comes and goes.
I love Leverage and and Sherlock, but would only read fic for the former. And it's hard to find. Especially as I tend to only want good Parker/Hardison stuff. *happy*
I love that you're pursuing a passion for service and spirituality! I can't say it surprises me because I'd secretly thought what a great Witness you'd make (which I hope you'll recognize is meant to be high praise, since our goals are to serve and to live by the Fruitages of the Spirit). I'm delighted for you that you seem to be making a life in line with your values.
I so need that blanket pattern! And I second the ravelry question - if you're on, friend me (Kasey821)!
My latest knitting project is making Hello Kitty hats for my nieces. So easy, and so cute. Next up, I'm working on a 4th Doctor scarf for my brother, and then Charlie wants a blanket. In between, I'll be running The Humble Stitch Project again this year, knitting scarves for the homeless and blanket pieces for AIDS orphans. It should be fun!
I do recognize the compliment, so thanks. I'm pretty happy where I am, but the knowledge that you think I have the chops for being a Witness is nice.
The blanket pattern is one that I'm adapting from a wooly thoughts pattern (because that one was only 1' by 2') It is shaping up to be very cool. And I shall need to join Ravelry very soon, it seems!
LOL. I promise, I wasn't recruiting! And thank you! I just looked it up and bought the pattern. I was looking for something to make for one of my nieces and this is PERFECT.
Oh, awesome! I really like the pattern - easy to read and nothing complicated in it at all. All I'm doing to make it bigger is essentially knit it six times - three on top, three on bottom. I'm only about a third way through the top row, but you can already see the effect. Very cool.

I do not do Ravelry, but it appears that I should! Perhaps I shall correct that oversight shortly.

Sadly, I don't know many fandoms that aren't, well, insane. The smaller ones tend to have concentrated crazy and lots of silence.
And that blanket sounds awesome.

Also, there will be pictures of the blanket should it ever get finished.

That sounds like an AWESOME blanket.
