poem - Of Fleece and Flesh

Jun 02, 2009 21:44

A short break from the usual... I wrote this poem for writing group tonight and thought I'd share.

IT'S ABOUT ZOMBIE SHEEP :D

Of Fleece and Flesh
(or Populism)

Perhaps from virus or plant leaf or tumor of the brain,
Modified and codified gene enhancing strains

They came as a rotting, woolen wave,
Bleating from beyond the grave.

Over hilltops and hay bales,
Their carnage was marked in cloven trails.

Through valleys and streets,
They pillaged the country side with flat ovine teeth.

Patterns random yet precise,
The sheep took their vengeance on wolves and sheep dogs alike.

For the nips and herding and bloody defeats,
The undead mob made quick work of the meat.

Always ignored, their abused wails
Because these farmers were too big to fail.

White swarms of them fled, no longer enslaved
But they had, the masters mused, been so well-behaved.

Free from the shears and contemptuous disdain
Thus began their woolly reign.
