From now on I changed one rule:

In the past I followed what quite some communities go along by, posts being friends locked, so that only community members can see them. But actually the community shall promote this band, so the more people can see the entries, the better it is

You need to be an administrator, but not the owner. As far as I know, a mod only can moderate entries and members, this means they can approve or refuse members who request to join or entries that are waiting in the moderation queue. Every other task can only be done by an administrator or the owner (it's explained somewhere within the LJ facts, if I'm not mistaken). A lot of people don't know the difference, but being a mod doesn't give a lot of tasks, in my opinion. ^^
So I checked FV's comm and see you're really just a mod, so I don't think that you can change it.
Changes can be done here.
If the comm is set on private entries, it can be changed on top by putting it on 'everyone (public)'.
However, even if you might not be able to change this, in a comm with several mods/maintainers etc. I think one should talk through such changes before doing (I'm maintaining quite some comms and several of them are co-maintained, I talked about most of them but we agreed on that point, so I could do this). So if the owner of FV's comm agrees on

That will cause problems again and again, I think. I wonder why they don't add you as maintainers, so you can do more things. This would be enough for you to change this by yourself.
The previous owner of the Daizy comm also weren't interested in it anymore and I asked her, if she might hand it over to me. She were glad, that there was someone being interested in caring for it and fully handed it over without any problems.
Anyway, I don't want to judge someone I don't know but it sounds a bit strange to me.

Maybe she'll change your state into admin or at least change this option for the comm. ^^
