I'm sold. I've been on Atkins for a week now and I swear that I've never felt better! I don't understand why low-fat diets get all the hoo-ha when all they do is leave you hungry. And now I don't feel I have to lose weight on this diet but if it helps me with my appetite and energy levels I don't see any reason not to follow it ( Read more... )

I was quite tempted to try it once, but the recipes I found seem to have lots of meat and that could get a little ex...

Do you get your recipes from the Atkins website?

well, I've been on it for a week now and I'm at home by myself so if I get a grilled chicken, it lasts me 4 meals. So I've not really tried many recipes. I tried a cauliflower recipe and liked so much that I've already made it twice. Actually, it's also partly because the head of cauliflower I bought was rather big. ;) I've had a lot of omelettes too...something I never quite allowed myself to have when I was on the low-fat regime. I adapted a non-Atkin recipe for home made choc ice-cream and although it's not really like ice-cream I rather enjoyed it!

Anyway...do you want to do Atkins for weight loss (doesn't look like you need it!) or just to feel more enegetic?

Can you share your cauliflower recipe? I can't seem to make it taste delicious!

Feeling more energetic is good, although I think my main problem could also be due to lack of exercise. What's the difference btw the South Beach & Atkins?

Here's the actual recipe:
http://atkins.com/food/recipes/all/Cauliflower_with_Indian_Spices.html
I didn't have cumin, coriander and ginger at home so I used curry powder and red pepper powder instead of those spices. Also, I microwaved the cauliflower first for about 2 mins to speed up cooking time. ;)

South Beach is supposed to be a low fat version of Atkins (according to their site it's a copycat version that we should beware of! http://atkins.com/Archive/2005/3/21-309020.html
