I went to the dentist today. *smiles a darlie smile* Actually, our stock of Darlie is out. I never thought our seemingly exaggerated stock could run out. I had to buy Aquafresh and the taste is YUCKS ( Read more... )

Ok.. I thought that the US system was bad,... with 2-4 months wait.. but 2 and a half YEARS???

I found a little dental office near my apartment in San Diego that surprised me with only a one week wait...

In LA, I would need a month to get to see a doctor. Otherwise, it's "urgent care" and many hours of waiting. It's messed up here. I miss the walk-in system in Singapore.

I'm seeing the govt dental clinic...maybe that's partly why the wait is so long. I guess if you go to a private clinic, it might be a shorter waiting period but will cost more.

coincidentally i was just saying i need to visit the dentist too. last time i tried to visit i was told i had to book couple of months in advance... got walk in meh?

but after watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, i was intimidated by the dentist tools, i think maybe i will postpone for oh another few years, what's the difference, it's been years anyway ;)

A 1.5 year wait is really nuts. How much does a dental check-up cost a government clinic as compared to a private one?

Heh. I used to be terrible about keeping to the 6-monthly routine. But now I think I will because my new dentist is DAMNED CUTE. Plus he charges very reasonable rates.

I don't know how much private care costs but my visit set me back 350 SEK (abt S$74). I didn't even see a dentist...that would cost even more. The "dental hygienist" took 4 x-rays and removed some tartar build up. I don't know what it costs in S'pore nowadays but I feel it's expensive so I don't mind longer periods between visits. Unless I had a cute dental hygienist! ;)

Okay...actually that doesn't sound too bad. For the price of $70 I had a check-up (no X-rays), scaling and fluoride treatment.
