hmm i should like to find a mum who mothers in the way i would like to mother, ie letting the child wander and fall and whatever and not making a fuss when he falls and scrapes something, because i've noticed the child learns to make a huge fuss when the adults make an example of that. a mother who doesn't say you must do this or that or this or that is wrong, you'll regret it, etc. of course somehow keeping the child safe in the process as well.

and then i should like to sign up as an observer.
