DUDE Warnerburg does essentially sum up the concept of ideas! Basically!
I tried Gunnerkrigg Court a while back but didn't read a lot of it, but now I'm going to read it again!
also - OH MY GOSH CAVE STORY! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY GOODNESS I've recommended that game to everyone I know but nobody has played it yet. So good! I'm glad you've played it! I haven't found any other freeware games I liked as much; maybe I'll try the battleship builder one. SWEET. The Underside looks suspiciously like Cave Story except with the Madd Haxx.
Whatever, I'll post what I want.dalaranjNovember 25 2007, 23:51:32 UTC
No, I was being subtle. Idea = water faerie. Card game = Sasuke is exploding with power. Do you understand now?
(Normal English Explanation: It is a card game about faeries.)
Gunnerkrigg Court kind of 'picks up' after a couple of chapters. At first you're like, "Okay, girl has second shadow/builds robot. Whatever..." but then after that you're like, "Okay, girl has demon in stuffed animal/friend who lets off steam when rained on/PE teacher with light saber/etc... That's awesome!"
Although, Cave Story can and has been hacked in that manner, The Underside is a completely different game style. It is indeed built on a different engine. Apart from being a running jumping shooty guy, they are totally different.
(Perhaps you would also be interested in: "Space Barnacle: What a terrible fate to be reborn in space." which is a short kitschy game, but pretty worth it for the "OMG I just jumped up into a vertical firefight with deadly fireball spewing birds!" type moments. )
"Xxxenophile" based on the porn comic of the same name by Phil and Kaja Foglio. The game play is identical to the more family friendly card game based on their online "Girl Genius" comic.
(Man, so much name dropping. I feel SO pretentious.)
