3rd edition was released in 2000, 3.5 edition was released in 2004. A new edition every four years is a pathetic money grab. The three core books are about a $100 plus tax, then there are all the suppliments, of which I have a significant amount for 3.0 and 3.5. I understand that they have a bunch of great new ideas, but there is no reason they NEED to release a new edition to role out stuff like an online tabel top simulator. Which is pathetic when any chat room will do the job. I for one will not be spending a dime on a new D&D edition until 5th edition. By that time I'm sure the changes will be significant enough and my books will be worn enough.
