It stings, but it feels like it should. This sort of life isn't pretty at all, however much it might be romanticized. Your fic has its gritty underbelly, something I wish more of us had the balls to write.

All the little details give us a full, if grim, picture of their daily lives. Work. Sleep. Smack. Maybe a little food or tea. And then again.

We know the person on the slab isn't sean. Waiting for the next... Hoping he turns up (or goes into rehab) soon.

*hugs* Thanks very much. I think all the bad news around at the moment is having an effect on me. I just want to write dark, realistic grit. And there are so many romantic views of sex workers that I felt the urge to redress the balance a little.

And then of course I was thinking how much harder it must for older men (or women)...
