I liked this chapter very much, particularly Sean showing his strength and assertiveness, his growing friendship with Viggo and his being able to laugh again. I also liked that he still succumbed to his grief again at the end. Even though he is making progress. It is not an easy process.

That's how it is, I think, one moment everything is fine and the next, it hits you like a brick wall. Yet in the midst of all that terrible grief, life goes on. There's something vaguely poetic about it.

There's a strong sense here of the instability that surrounds your Sean, that keeps throwing him off-kilter like a shaky paving slab that tilts as he puts his foot on it - but although he does not perhaps realise it, he is already acquiring new responsibilites that he will take seriously because that is his way and which will give him a reason for going forward into that unpromising future - and one of them is Viggo who is now being revealed to have his own demons that leave him vulnerable and needing someone else's strength to lean on. Looking forward to seeing how you take this forward.

Thank you very much. It's a very interesting angle to explore with so many places the story could go! So glad you're enjoying

I kinda' like Sean solution to his lonliness - activity. At least he has something to be proud of at the end - a new bathroom or kitchen.

"“He talks to the plants, he’s into all that new age crap.”

“Well that doesn’t mean it’s okay for you to abuse him, lad.”

“Nah, suppose not, just it’s so fucking boring around here.”"

I love the social history points you're making here. If only people weren't so tired up with "red tape", I'm sure a lot more youngsters could be helped out of their boredom and taught useful things.

I'm glad Viggo realises that Sean needs to go slow; it bodes well for the future.

It's the perennial cry isn't it? Boredom, nothing to do, if there's nothing to do, the result is not pretty!

*hugs* Thank you for your fb sweetie, yes it does bode well for the future.

That's very lovely, thank you! ^_^

I really enjoyed how Sean is very much a jack of all trades, here, how he knows a little of this and a little of that, and it all builds up to some very solid knowledge. And I definitely appreciate how even though Viggo is a very attractive prospect, there's still that ebb and flow of grief. It's really beautifully placed beside Sean's obvious attraction to him, and interesting how it creates some very complex internal conflict. And Sean's need to be constantly busy, with something to do, feels extremely authentic, although I have to wonder if that impulse mingling with the grief isn't what caused him to forget to go to the manor.

I'm really looking forward to the next part, and to finding out how Viggo reacts to Sean not appearing as he said he would! ^_^

And thank you again. It's so tempting to just have them jump into bed and fall in love but that wouldn't feel right, you know?

Next part is in the works and should be up at the weekend.
