Flashback: You're Not Really My Type

May 04, 2014 20:28

It had been a long week. Actually, it was probably more like two weeks. Things were starting to blend together for Sebastian. When he wasn't in classes, he was on the Quidditch pitch - not that he played if he could help it - or in this one corner of the library that seemed to be completely ignored most of the time "studying." Not much actual ( Read more... )

It was definitely cheap humor but Daphne still found it endlessly amusing to see the first years stumble over themselves as the staircases began to shift and they were caught in the middle, eyes going wide the first time they realized just how dangerous this castle could be. Though, they'd soon realize that the dangers were much more serious than the architecture.

Daphne's laughter faded when she saw Sebastian, looking just as handsome as he always did, and a more smug grin tugged at her pink stained lips.

She'd never tire of the way that passing students looked on enviously when they walked through the hallways.

"For you, love, I always do," she assured him, sparing a quick look back at Cecilia before stepping forward to join him.

There might be more than a few interested looks thrown their way any time they were together, but Sebastian never really noticed. He didn't pay too much attention to the attention other people gave them. He was aware of it and knew how to deal with it, even using it to his advantage when the situation called for it. When he didn't need it to work for him, he mostly tried to pretend it didn't exist so he wouldn't get too exhausted about it.

"Great. Come on." He held his hand out for Daphne's. It hadn't been until a few weeks ago that he really noticed that was the most physical contact they had most of the time, and even then it was mostly in the halls.

Taking her hand, Sebastian led her down the corridor. It was probably not ideal, but no one really went down that way and if he glared enough and told them to go, he was sure no one would came around and linger.

Daphne took his hand easy, the gesture always so awkward and uncomfortable. The two of them had never actually gotten the physical aspect of this relationship right, but she figured that would come in time.

Of course, until then, she didn't mind just looking at him and that perfect smile he had.

Her heels clicked as they marched down the empty hallway, a confused look on her usual stoic face. Sebastian was never the one to suggest a private meeting with her.

"Is everything alright?" she asked him, a touch of genuine concern in her tone.

"Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, it's fine." Sebastian shook his head a couple times, throwing in a shrug for good measure.

Was he actually nervous about this? Whatever relationship had been happening between them had been sort of strange from the beginning - Samantha had been particularly vocal about her complete confusion over it. It was so strange, in fact, that he was pretty sure Daphne wouldn't be very upset.

Then again, she could be vindictive on a good day when she was feeling particularly bored, so it was a legitimate concern.

"But. I'm thinking." Shrugging again, gesturing randomly to his left. "We should just break up."
