Closed: Wolves shouldn't lose sleep over the opinion of sheep

The sun was high, the noon sun shrouded in enough clouds to make the heat of it vague at best. The day was dreary and overcast, a perfect match for Sebastian's mood. He'd spent the morning in the office, having tried to step up his game so Jemma was a little less overwhelmed. He'd made it until lunch before he'd started snapping at Kiki every time ( Read more... )

As had become strangely entirely too common, Reid had found himself camped out in an empty (save for the rarely-seen small handful of staff members Reid had become certain had access to some secret network of hidden passageways he had yet to be able to find for how invisibly most of them managed to go about the place) Daley Manor in the middle of the day. With his boss still mysteriously in the wind, he had gotten a bit more liberal about his hours - it was a lot easier to roll his eyes at Ava's huffiness about keeping strict business hours despite the very obvious missing piece in their enterprise, and as far as he was concerned, as long as things that needed to be taken care of on his end got taken care of (invoices sent out, orders filed, venues booked, licenses attained), it didn't much matter whether he was doing them at one in the morning on a Tuesday rather than the more acceptable two in the afternoon ( ... )

"Just bloody dandy."

After the way he'd bolted, Sebastian half expected to start snapping at literally anyone who was in his general vicinity between the time he arrived home and the time he changed back to human the next day. At this point, he was so conditioned to Reid's presence that he found it more comforting than anything else.

Not for the first time, he was glad Reid had the most bizarre sense of timing.

As stiff as he was, Sebastian stalked across the room for no real reason except for the sake of motion. When he turned back around, he wanted to deflate a little, but he was entirely too keyed up with anxiety and pre-moon restlessness.

"I hate people." It wasn't technically an answer, but it was as close as Sebastian could come at the moment. "Have I mentioned that? All of them and their fucking prejudices."

Reid finally managed to get himself settled on the couch in an upright manner and blinked back at Sebastian, watching him pace across the sitting room.

"Well, as a blanket statement, I can't say I disagree," he shrugged, idly picking at a loose string sticking out from the hole that split the knee of his too-well-worn jeans.

"Care to get a bit more specific? At least to the point of excluding me from that, or should I be on my way?" he asked, soft despite that unavoidable sarcasm and eyebrow raise. Though, given the day, and the current uppity state of the wizarding world, and even that bristly look Sebastian seemed to have to him that went beyond the usual stiffness that accompanied the hours leading up to the full moon, he had a rather pointed clue as to what prejudices he might be refering to-

People did, indeed, suck.

"You don't count." Sebastian rolled his eyes out of habit, a bit of the tension bleeding off. His muscles were still full of an extra rigidity that couldn't be accounted for by the day, but he felt slightly less manic, a touch less jittery.

It seemed to catch up with him then just how ridiculous it was that Reid had once again been sprawled in strange positions on his sofa and had taken longer than he probably should have to wiggle around into a normal-person position. Sebastian huffed a breath through his nose and moved around the room once more before dropping down onto the sofa beside Reid. "You I like."

Sebastian sank back into the cushions as much as he could and rubbed a hand over his neck, pressing at the strained muscles, regardless of how useless the gesture was when he was this keyed up. His knee bounced a little with nervous energy.

"I nearly started a fight in a coffee shop. I may have threatened to bite a guy."
