hi.

so i've mentioned that i'm working on a short film.

this weekend i spent some time learning how to do lifecasting, along with sculpting and molding latex appliances. i can now add "special effects makeup" to my MUA resume.

i must say, the work is really fun and rewarding, and i am reminded how much i enjoy working with my hands.

ok yeah Meeks, i realized I sounded like a total stranger asking you that last question! It's been a long day of retouching here in NY, my eyes are blurry and I can barely see the keys. I need some tea and sleep. But yeah, always wanted to do life casts. Is it easy? What do i use???

what i'm doing is really easy plaster casting.

basically what i used is dermalgel (for making a negative mold of your subject), plaster strips (as backing on your dermagel mold), mask latex (to make your latex appliances), and plaster (to make positive molds from the negative dermagel mold). you will also need some basic sculpting tools, and containers for your plaster, etc.
