arty farts

I always thought I'd get along with the arty type of people...Why is it though that there are so many pretenious arty people in their early 20s. The ones that think they are so much better then everyone, so "different" yet if you don't fit THEIR mold, then they don't want anything to do with you?

I don't read your journal a lot anymore, but I think I can give you some insight into this one. I think art kinda of makes you feel a little pretentious about yourself because not a lot of people can draw and not a lot of people are creative. These people become weird and anal retentive about what they think makes a person artsy. That's gay because art should not be fit into the small confines of one person's tiny imagination. After all, I believe art comes from the creative unconsciousness and that is something we can all get in touch with if we just try to. Also, when they go to college, it makes everything ten times worse because then they think they KNOW what they're doing, and they do not. Putting art in a college form, in an area where it is controlled and where people are told what to do and what is good and acceptable, is something I frankly find despicable and makes me want to blow up people. Yep. I doubt I will be an art major in the future. Probably just go into something equally ucky like business or marketing. ( ... )

I don't really write in this journal too much anymore so it's okay. I just was frustrated by this aspect of life and people I've encountered. I think you're write to a degree, especially with the college aspect ( ... )

I'll probably major in something like business or possibly marketing. I'm not even quite sure yet. I was also thinking of maybe apprenticing to a jeweler as well but I'm not sure what all that entails. I'm just not sure graphic design is for me anymore + none of the schools around here seem to really have it as a major. I'm unsure.............sigh!!! lol Yeah I do have some good friends, some whacked out ones too.. but I can relate to most of them on a more spiritual and more loving level than I think a lot of people get to do. I recently met a bunch of people here that get together to do once a month parties kinda like what you were talking about as well.. so that's cool. Congrats on getting a house though, that's pretty awesome. :)

Thanks! It's a victorian house so I'm in love, I have been interested in the victorian era and it's architecture since I was maybe 8 years old. So I couldn't believe it when I moved back to CT from Arizona that I found this perfect house that needed some fixing up that I would be able to purchase. There are things it's close to as well (walking distance) but it's off a side street so it's quiet) I painted every room, put in a new vanity in the bathroom, sanded the hardwood floors, etc. It needs a few windows which I still need to order since the sizes are different then the modern standard size but I love how it's turning out. Once I get some main stuff done it's just a little at a time ( ... )
