Is it alright if I add you? I'm an American ex-pat who stumbled on your blog via a key-word search for "lutherie". I want to build guitars... someday. I'm also turning 40 in a week.

I forgot that the east coast (MD and VA especially) have a "Do Not Move Firewood" (or any other wood even if you're not burning it) rule.

Where does a craftperson store wood while it is seasoning, and how does one move it when such bans are in effect?

I do not know. I've never run across such a thing. I store my wood in my shop. In Houston this was in a custom built lumber rack in my garage. Right now it's all in my Grampa's old shop in AR. Most of the lumber was milled from trees on the family land, so I REALLY don't want to part with it - like at all. I could sell it all for a pretty good amount, but it's as sentimental to me as a quilt made by my Grandma. So I REALLY hope that I can get permission to move it and store it in DC.
