The sun set slowly behind the ridge. The rich smell of turned earth, black top soil laid bare to the sky father’s touch by a hard days work drifted through their cabin. Crawling into bed next to his sister, he lay down beside her, pulling the furs up over himself, one arm instinctively moving to embrace her protectively.
