I am very much okay with being close to people who disagree with me about a lot of things, even if they're big issues we totally disagree completely on (see: abortion and EVERYONE I KNOW and veganism/vegetarianism and like...99% of the people I know), but I draw the line at homophobia/people who are super entrenched in a heteronormative mentality. I could be friends with someone like that, but I don't think I would be able to be close friends with someone like that--it just says too much about them fundamentally as a person and how they view other people, and homosexuality is too big a part of my life (HI, MUSICAL THEATRE).
But then, being in theatre it's not like I meet very many people aren't, you know, kind of flaming, so I don't really have that problem.
Hey ye it sucks that this person, let's call them i don't know Sally, doesn't like gays. I have friends (well used to) that were not very supportive about it but they got more used to it. Anyways people don't have to agree with you on everything (even though they should) to be your friend, Sally only needs to be a nice person. But if you feel annoyed with Sally and get in fights with her all the time, then the friendship migght not be worth it.
PS: i was so gonna call you today but the parents came back from Maine last night. You should be online (aim) so i can just im u.
