Noel and I toured some of those antiquated movie theaters along Aurora Boulevard Wednesday night to check out the gay cruising that goes on there. We first went to this moviehouse Noel had been to once before. He couldn't remember the name but he remembers how it looked: it had two adjacent escalators right at the entrance lobby. I felt a bit of sentimental sulkiness at the mention of Cubao having to be reconstructed from ground up. But it doesn't really spring from the cruising conduciveness of its alleys, cinemas and similar establishments, although this aspect does have its weight. I simply can't detach Cubao from my metamorphosis into the Monarch butterfly that I am now ('chos!). You know I was "born" in the QC Circle; but it was in Cubao where I first began to socialize with people like us. It was there where I learned an encyclopedia of gay ways and means. Heck, Cubao was where I had my entire eleMENtary education! (reminiscing...) Hay! Nakaka-miss! And if it would have to be rebuilt into something like Ortigas... hmmmm, nakakalungkot isipin!
