What better way to start my journal than by showing off my budding collection of dandies?

Bale is a beauty, no? Sad part is I probably wouldn't say that if he weren't BATMAN.

Aren't they all done up by stylists in these photos, though? Doesn't prove that they are dandies, although surely some of them do exhibit inclinations.

// who, even if they do not assume that identity in their daily lives, most surely do justice to the part in these pictures //

Egad.. You already broached this subject. My apologies for lazy reading. I agree wholeheartedly. Someday I hope to chance upon Mr. Bettany as he walks his dog here in Brooklyn. Jennifer can be there too, as I hear she is a gracious lady.

It is my believe that suits were invented, just so that Paul Bettany would one day wear them and look fabulous. Lovely pictures all around.

I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. He is the prince of Saville Row.

Indeed! I think his picture should be in an Encyclopedia of Refinement next to the article titled "British elegance" :D

Jonathon is such an absolutely darling. And Ewan, well. I'm absolutely speechless. Now's my moment to note that Christian Bale, Jonathon R. Meyers and Ewan McGregor all starred in the incredible Velvet Goldmine, which actually introduced me to the love of my life, Mr Oscar Wilde. As it was through him, I discovered dandyism, you can thank the sublime gorgeosity of those boys for me being here.

Thanks ever so much for adding that drool-element to my evening, doll.

It was my heartfelt pleasure, ma'am!

True, that trio was beyond words in Velvet Goldmine.

It's so interesting that for me it was the other way round! Just because I was interested in Wilde and dandyism I was dying to see VG -- and I had to wait a couple of years for it. But now I'm a happy owner of the VHS :)

Indeed, a wonderful close to my evening. :) Thank you.

Actually, the minute you mentioned the "modern dandy," I thought about that photo spread with J. Depp. Do you have the rest of the photographs, perchance? They really are quite lovely...

*smiles upon reflexion*

Oh, sadly I don't :( And I'd love to see the rest as well! These were scanned by yours truly from a Romanian monthly magazine -- I understand they were first published in Vanity Fair -- maybe November '04?

I shall have to see if I can find a working scanner nearby...I have the original magazine, you see. They are amazing pictures.
