Part 3 - Acceptance
Yunho found the CD amongst Jaejoong’s belongings, inconspicuously tucked into one of his well-worn hoodies. Yunho sat back on his heels, familiarising himself with Jaejoong’s scrawl across the case as he steeled himself against the waves of pain racking his body.
Breathing deeply he stood up and made his way to the main room, putting the CD into the DVD player and sitting on the sofa before pressing play on the remote. Jaejoong’s form flickered onto the big screen before him and Yunho held back a sob as he clutched the table in front for support.
“Yunnie-ah…”
Jaejoong’s soft voice wrapped around his senses and Yunho rewound the disc to play that over and over again, his eyes closed pretending that Jaejoong was really calling to him and not from the screen.
“I’m sorry I left you like this. Believe me, love, I never wanted to leave you but I’d rather be the first to go if it was out of us. I wouldn’t be able to live without you, Yunnie, but I know you can without me. You’ve always been the strongest one out of us all.”
The outside sky darkened slowly as afternoon turned to dusk and then to twilight and then to night. The only source of light coming from the apartment was from the widescreen TV that Yunho was kneeling down in front of.
“I know I never said it in words but I hope I showed you through my actions… Yunnie-ah, I love you.”
The CD ended and Yunho cried into his hands; those words were all he needed.
