I think maybe why I continue to like the VoH anime, despite the fact it's kinda messed up - on many levels - and inferior to the source, is the fact that it's a tragedy... There ain't enough of that kind of material in the annals of anime.

I didn't mean it as a slam on Violinist of Hamlin, just that it was the only thing showing that was vaguely interesting at the time, and it still wasn't really what I wanted to see. They also showed a bunch of Naruto from like, episodes 80-90something. >.>; Nothing early. Wish there were just more variety, is all.

Yeah, it does, but veeeeery slowly. As usual, I get into a series 2 or 3 years after everyone else.

And... mostly the enthusiasm and the capacity for self-delusion. It's not a lot, really. Thus, peculiar.

I couldn't argue that there aren't more differences than similarities, though. I just found myself suddenly thinking "Bukichi!" at some point, that's all. >.>; And made myself go "Wha?"

Actually, Usopp had a sick mom too, but she's dead.

In my case, people find my fanart/fanfic 2 years after I've left the fandom, so it all works out!

Waah. Still. I can see why VoH is appealing but underrated.

It's a good series I'd like to see more of - I have manga vols 1, 2, and 10-12, I think. XD; I bought it at discount prices at a store that was discontinuing carrying chinese translated manga. booo. :_;
