A few months ago, here in Thailand suffered from a serious flood, too, and over 300 people died at that time.
Many children were left alone missing their mum and dad.

I myself have experienced quite a few natural disasters as a Japanese - earthquake, typhoon, flood, Tsunami, and it is a big grief to see many people have lost their families and homes.

But after all, I strongly feel that no matter the natural disasters are man-made or really a part of the mother nature, humans are now far too arrogant to rule the world.
No respect to gods (in this sense, I am not talking about a particular god, but more like in animism) and other living creatures any more. A good balance is always the key.

I think there are more extreme weather events now everywhere. Twice in the last two years my entire backyard has flooded, once very dramatically, a midnight tsunami. If it wasn't for a very large clump of bamboo, I might be down the river myself.

We are in complete agreement about arrogant humans. Their lack of respect for nature and their fellow life forms is psychopathic. When I look around and see the kind of terrible pollution and degradation of the environment I can't believe there won't be catastrophic effects. This disaster was made so much worse by the mismanagement and abuse of the land. They treat this powerful country like something they can use and dominate, but it just proves them wrong again and again. Maybe one day they will finally learn. I tend to think things will get a lot worse before they get better.
