I think one big difference between you and many of the reviewers whose work I've read is that you honestly wish to be charmed and delighted by theatre, even as you enter a performance with a healthy dose of show-me skepticism. You are to be commended for showing interest in something other than petty snarking and sniping in your reviews. I often get the feeling critics, especially the hordes of roving freelanceers working for free and on the cheap (Backstage critics included), don't actually like theatre very much. I say to these people, to quote the sage Jon Stewart: "Stop hurting America."
