Met the second neurosurgeon yesterday, and followed up with number one. (Both named Cohen. As one of the managers at work said: "Good. A nice Jewish boy.")
I'm responding very, very well to conservative treatment. Conventional wisdom and protocol say that when a patient responds well to conservative treatment, surgery is not necessary or wise.

I really don't know what you "should" do. I like the sound of the two neurosurgeons you've seen so far, though, based on this report -- they don't seem scalpel-crazy, which is good. Another question to try asking: "What if your wife or your child or you were in my shoes -- what would you recommend?"
