Friday evening was Christas Light Night in Oxford. It is plainly an event designed entirely for tourists and people with office jobs in the centre of town who can skip out early-the parade of the children with lights kicks off at 6 but if you arrive at 6 you will not see anything but the back of the crowds. Did they turn on the lights from where you could see the lights this year? Last year there was a collective "3..2..1.. WAT?" from those assembled on St Giles.

I did not see that part but so far as I can tell it would have been the same-the stage was way up St Giles and out of sight of Cornmarket and Broad Street.
