Damn_uncool, you say? Without getting teenage-emo on you, I'll move to the second most damn_uncool thing in my life right now: the fact that I'm reading The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane for my English class. I hate that about High School (and most other) English. Books are meant to be interpreted, they can't have one set meaning, that isn't the point to reading and writing and thought.

Oh, and ontop of that I absolutely despise The Red Badge of Courage

Too bad about having no freedom to interpret literature in the classroom. I guess I was lucky with my high school Lit teachers...

Sympathy! I've been saying for a while that the goal of a writing teacher is to pull their students away from the barriers and categories they limit themselves to, and allow them to think in the unknown. The goal of a lit teacher is to cram the students back in.
