Apparently I need to buy drugs in order to sleep through roommate's need to be awake in the middle of the night. I couldn't sleep, and the second I thought I could there she was. Up and AWAKE. So I'm assuming that your roommate makes a racket when she is up at midnight, right? If you are in a small space, I can imagine that it gets loud. Maybe you can politely ask her if she can be less noisy because you're a light sleeper.

I've had a roommate that got up at strange times during the night, but since I'm a heavy sleeper I wouldn't notice. It helps to have the door closed and earplugs too.
