Seriously sometimes I feel like itd be easier to live in my car than to live with roommates. First of all I live with my boyfriend and two roommates, Tori and Kyle. I knew Tori about a year before she moved in and Kyle was her friend who has only known her a couple months. they both seemed like mature adults to live with, Tori is a full time student and works full time. She claimed she was a very clean person. Kyle has two jobs and is trying to get into medical school. They are sub leasing from us. That means basically they answer to us and we answer to the landlord. We are in charge of the house. When we moved in I tried to make the house a democracy. I tried to have house meetings and to have rules for the house that everyone agreed with. I tried to set up laundry days etc etc. Yeah I was ignored. No one had time to sit down and discuss policies on overnight guests and being considerate while other people were sleeping etc etc. And you know what after making an effort to be nice and try to make everyone happy and comfortable and not being taken into consideration I decided fuck it.
Also I'm the ONLY ONE who cleans this house. My boyfriend and I left for a week for Thanksgiving. Before we left I cleaned the house top to bottom. The dishes were done, the counters were clean, the fridge was cleaned out, The floor was mopped, the carpet was vacuumed, all of our stuff was put away in our room and not left out in common areas in the house. When I came home everything was a mess, esp the kitchen. I figured well its only the day after Thanksgiving,I'll give Tori (because she was the one that had done the cooking) a couple days to clean it up because she's busy. Well there was still part of a turkey carcass sitting in a pan and smelling four days later so I gave in and cleaned the whole kitchen because I needed to use it and Tori wasn't home to ask to do it herself. Yeah....I didn't even get a thank you for doing it. Also I didn't know what to do with the pans she used because I thought they were the disposable kind that you can buy and then put in the recycling. So I didn't wash them and I stacked them up on the counter so that she could take care of them....they sat there for a month. I had to finally just get rid of them because they were in the way and she obviously wasn't going to do anything about them. For over a month I've been the only one cleaning the house. No one else has vacuumed, swept, mopped, wiped of the counters, cleaned the stove, cleaned the microwave, anything. I've had to clean the kitchen twice a day just so that there wouldn't be dishes stacking up on the sink. So I cleaned the ENTIRE house once again last week before leaving for Christmas with the boyfriend to visit family. Yeah I come back and once again the house is a mess. I can't even find the coffee table under the plethora of things they've left sitting on the coffee table, there are dirty dishes all over the sink. And not to mention that Kyle had given the dog a cat toy that we kept on a high shelf to keep him from destroying it because he felt sorry for him because he had to spend so much time outside(the dog isn't allowed in the house unless someone is home). Even though he knew that we didn't want the dog playing with it, and the dog has about a million DOG toys that are made specifically to entertain him when he's alone. He completely destroyed the toy of course and I had to ask him to go find us a new one. And there is only one dvd player in this house and two tvs. the dvd player happens to be mine and I had been using it in my room to watch movies the day before we left. We had closed the door to our room to keep the dog from going in there while we were gone. Yeah I don't know which roommate it was but one of them went into our room, took the dvd player out, left my dvd that was in it lying face down next to the tv and they left the door to the room open and the dog spent the week laying on top of all of our clean clothes that were on the bed. OH and Tori, the girl who couldn't be bothered to CLEAN UP HER OWN FUCKING MESS AND DIDN'T THANK ME FOR DOING IT FOR HER LEFT US A NOTE ABOUT HOW WE DIDN'T CLEAN OUT THE VACUUM AFTER WE USED IT. OH and did i mention that she has her own vacuum and she's complaining about us not cleaning out OUR vacuum? yeah that's right. I'm so fucking sick of all of this. there's actually more to it too but right now this is the stuff thats majorly getting to me.
