That was very interesting.

I would argue, however [and I may get kicked out for this view], that the majority of people you are talking about aren't "straight edge" it's not meant to be a Scene, or a club, or a gang. Making a decision to be "edge" is a personal choice, that affects oneself only.

Everysingle person I've ever known that was what you discribed, with the tats and the clothes, and the whole get up, every one of them have broken edge, and the ones that haven't are certainly going to.

This isn't about brainwashing, or a trend. This is a community of welcoming people that choose not to take part in the usage of drugs or alcohol. The label is an unfortunate need some people have to apply on top of their personal belief system. Personally, I've always rejected the title because I've thought it was stupid. It's nice to have an annonymous group here though where people can discuss what they are feeling and thinking, and not be judged for it ( ... )

what's absurd about laughing at someone's beliefs? yeah, it's possible that everyone just believes in what they want, but most likely they'll believe in wahtever they're told to. Some beliefs are absurd. sXe is pretty harmless I suppose, but it's just not something I can take seriously. Off the top of my head, I'd say it's the most conformist fad of the lot and considering the need of alternative kids to be "alternative", it just seems like a big waste of time.
You'll all be telling your kids how you were straight edge for a while in a few years time.
