*sobs* The final kick in the teeth is the vagrant. :( The very type of people that Roy would've helped is now begging Ed, of all people, for money. Poor Ed. Insult to injury. ;_;
Originally I was going to have Ed pat his pockets down and when he doesn't find anything give the vagrant his ring and end it there. But I thought that would have been a bit over the top and it would have ruined the kick in the teeth moment of the vagrant, in my opinion.
However, I'd like to think(funny thing to say considering I wrote it anyway xD) after some time has passed (perhaps a couple of months) Ed would see the vagrant again and that would be the turning point in his grief and he would give the vagrant the ring that he still wore then and try to help him and in a way it would be his closure with losing Roy and moving forward. :)

mmm. See, I don't see Ed giving up the ring for a loooong time, if ever, and certainly not within the few months like you said. Ed loves far too deeply and fiercely to get over his grief that quickly, IMO anyway. I'm glad you didn't put the giving away the ring thing in. Definitely would've spoiled it if you had. :(
One day I will learn to read what I type before I hit senddamnationschildMarch 1 2013, 04:01:32 UTC
Ugh, yeah that was supposed to say years. Dx
No way would Ed be able to 'move on' that quickly, he might make a show of it on the outside to not make others(mainly Al) worry but on the inside those first couple of months for Ed would be a living agony. One were he's subject to the guilt and rage of his grief, refusing to drown in his own sorrow but barely keeping his head above water. Eventually, after the first few months, he'd fall into an apathetic slump of living mechanically....
Obviously I never intended to fully flesh-out what Ed would do after Roy's death in this scenario but now that you've gotten me thinking about it I might have to just to get it out of my head.
