I think Mr. Fletcher is smart to appeal at the start of the campaign to a group of individuals that: 1) Makes up a large portion of the riding. 2) Historically, VOTES!
We know that people our age and younger do not vote in the same high % as seasoned citizens.
I'd say vote for the Conservative, and hound him to ensure he represents you. Send him an e-mail or a letter (heck it's free!).
So far I'm leaning toward voting Conservative (not a huge suprise).
Honestly, I would LOVE to vote Conservative. Listening to Harper, Martin and Layton, I think Harper (although misguided and not the best spoken of the trio) is the best person for the gig. It's sad when we are going towards American mentality for elections because our leaders our horrible. This year it is more "Who do you think would do the least damage?" and with the last US election it was more "The devil you know..." mentality.
From previous experience, hounding Mr. Fletcher is pointless. I admit, it is a good start to begin by contacting a large number of his constituents, but his document could have had some information for others apart from seniors. Its only target was the seniors, leaving everyone else in the wind. And, after checking with my brother and father (who both live in St. James, also Mr. Fletcher's riding), neither of them received this document. But then again, unlike me, they don't live next to 2 senior's homes...
I remember when fletcher tried to shut down the paper, i hated him with a fiery passion and still do. I wish I could vote conservative, and I would if mr harper wasn't around but sadly he is so i'm screwed and will have to decide between doing my best to keep him out (vote liberal) or vote for my second choice and waste my vote (green party)
