Okay, so it was just at the MTV Music Awards. (Though I suppose, considering MTV's relationship with actual music videos these days, it's a fitting title.)

A few thoughts:

1) That was fucking AWESOME.

2) MTV always manages to fuck sound up. Why is that? They're fucking MUSIC television. Levels are always way off in live performances, and I know it's for TV, but that's what they do, right?

3) Doubly funny because Cee-Lo is so short.

4) Drumming in a Chewbacca costume would be fucking difficult.

5) How did they get Lucas to sign off on this?

6) That was fucking AWESOME.

The drummer had to have had a Cammelback (backpack full of water with a hose to drink it from while wearing it) inside that suit just to keep from sweating himself into a prune.

Well, the phrase "hand/eye coordination" is pretty literal, and you need it for drumming, and Chewbacca costumes make it really hard to see.

I hadn't even thought about hydration, but yeah.

Oh, for those unaware:

The Gnarls Barkley tour has been a different "line-up" at practically every show. They have a bunch of different costumes and gimmicks. It's very Man or Astro-Man? of them, which I think is the key to any kind of resurgence in live music performance.
