Ok, can anyone figure out what it is that has been going on in the minds of Sony higher ups over the past year or so? Go ahead, I'll give you a moment to think about it

This might just kill the console gamer in me. Nintendo & Microsoft just don't put out games that I like with the exception of Halo 2 and Mario Party. However it's undeniable that Sony sure f'ed up bigtime. It's unbelievable that they've managed to sabotage themselves so thoroughly.
I felt that way for a while, and figured that I'd just get some replay value out of PS2 games, or catch up on ones that I never got around to play. After seeing some of the titles that will be available on the Wii, along with being able to play "old-skool" games on it, chances are that I'll be getting at least a Wii. I haven't fully decided on the 360 yet, though even if I do decide to get one, if it isn't given as a gift, it will likely be a while until I get one. I may get a PS3 eventually, but probably not for a long while.
Early in the talks about the next gen systems, I figured I'd prolly end up owning all 3 systems eventually this time around, like I did w/ the Xbox/PS2/GC. Though I waited until I could get the PS2 & GC for $100 or less. This time around I'm definetely going Nintendo first (hey, w/ the same amount of money I'd spend on a "good" version 360 or PS3, I can get a Wii and several controllers). Also, I'm already in on w/ Nintendo since I have a DS, and I'm really interested in seeing how they make the DS and the Wii interact. I hope they go *much* farther than they did w/ the GC/GBA interaction

Another thing that is sure to fuck Sony up with regards to Blu-Ray is that apparently Disney has demanded that there not be any porn released on the Blu-Ray format.
oh well. Not that I have been hearing anything good about the quality of either HD format...with the built in WDM requirements and the cost of HD-DVD and Blu-ray movies, if the quality is not too improved over DVD...I have a big "meh, why bother" jibe going on.
I see little point in buying HD-DVD verions of movies if I don't have an HD-DVD TV. I'm not that picky when it comes down to that level of quality, and especially not when it creates that much of a cost difference.
Another funny Sony note comes from Ken Kutaragi's keynote speech at TGS earlier this week. Not only did he not reveal anything particularly enticing or groundbreaking regarding the PS3, he couldn't even give us the pleasure of putting his foot in his mouth again. Every press site I've visited basically summed his presentation up as being extremely dull and generally uninformative
