Its only going to get worse too... the Wii's go on presale tomorrow!
(Although, they have their act together and they should actually have enough for the market, even through the holiday season, cause they know how to make enough of their product to supply their demand.)
Worse for the PS3, maybe. With Nintendo's track record for system release and the fact that they're usually able to supply their demands, I would be surprised if many Wii units end up on eBay for anywhere near twice their market price. A few I can understand, likely to be ordered by people who live in horribly remote areas without access to a shop that would carry it, but certainly on the mass level that the PS3 and 360 have/will hit.
Check out todays VGCats comic (www.vgcats.com). It sums up this situation rather nicely.
I can't understand people spending $800 on a game console in the first place, but 2.. or even 3 times that amount.. just to get it at release time, is RIDICULOUS.
I'm not even bothering with it on release. I probably won't concern myself with it too much until Metroid comes out, unless I manage to save up some extra money...somehow.
But I will wait until March or so. Plus, isn't it better to wait until the 2nd generation of consoles? The 1st generation typically has problems, doesn't it?
I plan on doing my taxes as soon as I get all my statements. My refund should help me afford this.
I think.
PS: Ordering PS3 from Ebay for anything more than retail = LOL
Most of the time, yes, the 2nd run will have the initial 1st run bugs fixed. I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't get one myself for a year or so, though it would likely be longer since I'd get a Wii, then 360, then PS3, should I have that much extra money available. Chances are more likely I'll be getting it on a refurbishing program once the market price drops in a couple of years.

Yeah, that's about when I'd expect I'd be getting a PS3, if I even cared that much for it at that point. At this point I only really have any desire to get a Wii and a 360, and I still even want the price of a 360 to come down more before I seriously consider it.
