Why is it that America is so willing to go all out in pre-emptively "defending" itself from outside sources, when it is so unwilling to defend itself from itself.

As I logged in to post this, I saw a post from murakumi that goes along with what I was thinking with the above.

Because it's easy to get people to say an outside threat is "wrong", whereas for many of the inside threats (such as the loss of responsibility), people are invested in their way of doing things and unwilling to admit that it's wrong even when it's obvious to outsiders?
