The big connecting corridor. He may be in a rush, but this hallway deserved extra caution. What would he do if he tried to get to Stefan and ended up mauled on the way there? As they entered the main hallway, Kibitoshin's eyes fell immediately onto the pair of staircases at either side of the corner. There! The sooner they got up there, the sooner they'd be able to get started on all of Sechs' missions and the sooner the horrible awkwardness following them around the Institute would thaw over. Hopefully.

Hurrying his pace a little, he moved just ahead of Sechs so that he could point his flashlight into the dark of the stairwell- a prime place for any lurking monsters to lie in wait. That was helpful, right? Just so long as he didn't take it as him trying to take over or lead the way, there was maybe even a chance for them to break the ice on the way up.

Ignoring the regular patient traffic in the main hall, Sechs kept an irritated look-out for any dangers, but as usual it was difficult to discern the drug-induced shadows from the real ones. So far his instincts hadn't warned him of anything, and his eyes focused on the staircase ahead.

When Sechs' heavy footfalls came to a halt before the stairs, Kibitoshin's yellow pointed shoes lightly brushed across the floor past him, his flashlight held up to guide them to the second floor. As helpful as that might be, Sechs experienced a pang of worry. Kibitoshin was barely armed; what if there was a monster up there in the staircase, ready to pounce upon them from the darkness?

The shadowy drug scoffed in Sechs' head, and immediately that concern was pushed away by his ever growing annoyance. Real warriors didn't waste their time worrying about some fretful klutz! And wasn't he supposed to be the leader of this mission? The grouchy android's scowl deepened ( ... )
