And ... the stairs. Bella couldn't help but peek up at the darkness as she moved slowly up the stairs, saving all of her energy for when she reached the second floor. She didn't want to leap up the stairs and have to catch her breath without even having done anything. That would have sucked.

This particular flight of stairs didn't exactly have the happiest memories for the battle android. It was the same journey to terrible halls, painful battles and flare ups from the drug in his back. With each step Sechs could feel the cold prickle inside his spine, the heartless presence in the back of his mind, coiling and sneering as it seemed ready to pounce--

Halfway up the staircase and already Sechs felt cornered. He wished badly for his own flashlight, expecting both physical and mental monsters to appear. Yet with those two concerns came the burden of relying on Kibitoshin's flashlight and welfare. Sechs may have fought in Alita's team back at the Z.O.T.T, but he didn't have the patience to be a team member...

Sechs was nearing the door to the second floor; Kibitoshin had better not ruin his progress by falling down the stairs or something...

"Ah-" Kibitoshin blinked, startled by the sudden warning, and by the time he'd thought up a response (or several: "Hey, I'm just trying to be helpful!" "I can take care of myself, you know!", etc) Sechs was already storming ahead of him like a lean, mean fighting machine. Which he was, in a way

Once Kibitoshin had caught up to the second floor, Sechs merely glanced at him and emitted a soft snort of approval. Good, he managed to climb up the stairs without tripping over his own feet.

Standing in the doorway, Sechs carefully stretched his neck out into the hallway, his eyes focusing hard into the darkness. He was really wishing he had his own flashlight then, as his body began reacting to the painful memories of the second floor. The worst things that have ever happened to him in the institute took place in these halls. The Replica's heartbeat hastened with excitement and dread, his skin began to perspire and his spine slowly frosted up inside. The fear was worsening Sechs' already bad mood, and having Kibitoshin suddenly wave the flashlight about from behind didn't help either.

Aggravated, Sechs turned on Kibitoshin with a snarl. "Watch where you swing that thing! Geeze!" he growled, blinking against the erratic light. "I said keep it steady! We gotta look out for monsters, not attract them with all that flashing
