Night 55: M71-M80 Hallway

Awkwaaaaaaaard. After about five minutes of radio silence from the intercom, Peter was expecting to hear some heavy mouth breathing or other inappropriate stalker sound effects. Instead they heard nothing. And they continued to hear nothing until twilight hit ( Read more... )

[continued from dinner]

After he'd thoroughly finished cleaning every last scrap of food from his bowl, Snow took the chance to search through the furniture and closet on his side of the room. He wasn't spending another moment in that stupid uniform if he could help it, but there needed to actually be something to change into if he was taking it off. All that was in the room were those smiling, gray clothes they were supposed to wear before. ... It was a better option than the button shirt he was wearing now. He changed from the button shirt to the smiling gray one, deliberately wearing it inside out in a weird sort of rebellion. He was wearing it as a shirt, not as a way to sport their stupid mascot. So he wasn't going to wear it that way.

He decided to keep the pants and boots since they were actually more normal feeling than the older ones, but he removed the belt so they were less tight and rigid and more, you know, NOT-uniform-y. Add on the weird brown coat and black gloves he'd found, and he almost felt normal. Not that a ( ... )

[ From here! ]

Once she'd stepped into this hall, it didn't take long for Lightning to no longer have to look any more- Snow cut a pretty distinctive figure even in the dark, which was certainly helped along by the way he too had chosen to alter his clothing for the night. She wasn't surprised at that. It made sense that he'd decided to do something about the military get-up, given his history.

Her face was set as she made her way down the hall, as if all of this was entirely normal and bringing along an unpromised someone else wasn't strange at all for her. She knew perfectly well that the biggest problem with this was, if Zack was with them, their conversation was... limited, to say the least. She hadn't forgotten what she and Snow had talked about earlier, and already barely resisted the urge to place a hand over her chest's Brand as she approached him. Hopefully he'd know to watch his mouth... hopefullyAnd again, with luck her decision to bring Zack would turn out more helpful than a hindrance. Of course, maybe they could ( ... )

Unsurprisingly, Lightning cut through the hallways like a knife, but Zack had no trouble keeping up, especially since they were going right back into the block that he'd just left. More backtracking, but he could only hope that it would be a quick visit. Last night hadn't gotten them anywhere, so he was really banking on that being different this time around. He doubted that Lightning was interested in being unproductive any more than he was, so ( ... )

The sharp, steady clopping of boots echoing through the hall alerted Snow first. It was the kind of sound that made you think "soldier" even without looking. Heh, that was either Light or someone he was going to have a hell of a lot of fun chasing out of the hallway. Hard to say which one he was hoping for more at this point. But unfortunately as they got closer, he could see it really was Light after all, along with someone else. He recognized the guy immediately as that Zack guy from the showers, which was enough to get Snow to break into a big smile and lift a hand in greeting toward both of them as they approached with a "Hey!"

It actually didn't cross his mind at all to ask why Zack had come along. For all he cared, both of them could have just left it be without any explanations and he would have just gone along with it, no questions asked. Zack had already said he knew Lightning, right? So what was weird about him walking around with her? It was only natural.

What he did find strange, though, was that they were going to bring ( ... )

Lightning's hands were on her waist immediately as the two men exchanged pleasantries- so, she was right during her first conversation with Zack in thinking that they would probably get along. Just her luck. She guessed it was better than if they had hated each other or something, although the reason behind Snow's outright enthusiasm went right over her head- just what was he so worked up about?

Not willing to just stand around and talk like what had been the group from the night before's downfall though, she took a half-step backwards, ready to try and get them moving again as soon as possible. Truthfully, it was annoying enough that she'd had to come that far down the hall at all.

"If I could pronounce his name I'd tell you," she answered, flat but loud enough that it likely carried all the way down the corridor. "But we're not taking him with us." At least, she definitely didn't plan on it. Kibitoshin hadn't seemed the type who would want to tag along with someone like her, anyway, especially if he was willing to pass off ( ... )

Snow seemed to be in even better spirits now that he wasn't having to fight with the knobs for his shower, which Zack was glad to see. He didn't seem to mind at all that he'd come along without advance warning, though Zack hadn't been too worried about that in the first place. All in all, Snow came off as a pretty laid-back guy, which was a total contrast to Lightning. It kind of fit the names the two of them had, in a weird way, although Snow was as far from cold as one could get ( ... )
