Night 55: M41-M50 Hallway

Apr 01, 2011 16:52

.....Ow. Okay, uh. Was all that static really necessary? If that guy was hoping to give everyone a migraine, he was certainly on the right track. He excelled at being annoying as much as he did delivering creepy, cryptic messages. Alright. Good for you, whoever you were.

But no matter. The strange speech over the intercom was the least of the ( Read more... )

As such, again Lightning lead on without paying much attention to how closely her companions were following. These halls were deserted, their threat level relatively low unless something lurked behind one of the doors that was supposed to lead to just another bedroom... or unless something strange kicked in again- a possibility she was extremely aware of. Even though some of the comments being made - heading outside after this, for example - probably needed more discussion applied to them, she was determined to get this meeting with Kibitoshin done first. Before something happened or night came to an end entirely.

Several steps into the hallway, though, she spun in place - a common thing to do tonight, apparently - facing Snow and Zack as she took a step backward and then halted right in the middle of the hallway.

"It might be better if you stayed outside," she said, chin lowered. She had several motives for suggesting that, but chose to voice only one as she glanced between them: "Faster, that way."

It was becoming more and more clear that there was something going on between Snow and Lightning that Zack couldn't quite understand. It wasn't that he felt like the third wheel, but he definitely didn't have all the information. This wasn't just about Snow marrying Lighting's sister; there had to be more to it than that. Granted, it was completely possible that it was none of his business, and trying to dig for information was likely to just make things worse. Maybe it was better to just move past it at this point ( ... )

There was this weird moment where Lightning didn't immediately respond and just looked between the two of them. She hadn't bought the change in subject at all. At this point, pretty much anything and everything could have happened and Snow wouldn't have been real surprised. Well, anything other than what she did do. Which was nothing at all. Lightning wasn't exactly the type of person who held back, either with her actions OR with her comments. So to see her so obviously mad one moment and then brushing it away the next... it was weird. Snow wasn't really sure what to think ( ... )

Lightning had a strange sense of what was appropriate in this sort of situation, mostly a result of her upbringing and soldier's training on Cocoon. She didn't exactly throw it at Zack eagerly or anything, but there was also no hesitation evident from her at all as she let the man take the short sword from her; as far as she was concerned, she had little reason not to. While she could probably make herself think of something, doing it like this just made more sense to her at the moment.

After all, she'd seen him doing the 'required' jumping jacks during lunch. During dinner there had been that metal possessions box that promised things wouldn't be returned if their owner didn't behave. If, unlike her, Zack would bend a little, that kept a weapon still in the mix if something happened to her or the two weapons she was keeping herself. It deeply irritated her to think like that, applying reason to some things but not to others and having to have to set out her plans twisted around the whims of the military goons trying to run the ( ... )
