Apparently, reflex overrode ill feelings in the end. Out of habit, Klavier gave a small smile at any employees who may have turned to look as he entered the store. It was such a normal thing to do, which just made it feel that much more abnormal in the given situation. But who was he to complain? He could really use a nice dose of "normal" right about now ( ... )

Worse still was the thought that the attacker might be the very man at the counter who was now watching him warily. He might have even sent the guy a glare (wasn't he allowed to window shop?) if he hadn't been distracted in the next second.
Being called "Herr Dent" was still something he had to get used to, but as Harvey turned toward Gavin, he realized that it was just one of the man's quirks. And honestly, anything was better than being called Harv, so he wasn't going to make a fuss about it.
