Feeling somewhat under-dressed for even a glorified diner like this, Gant was semi-conscious of some of the lunch crowd's judgmental stares he received upon entering. He hadn't actually been planning on any sort of conversation, but anyone with the courtesy to ask was certainly more than welcome. "Can't say I'm happy about the weather, but if getting us out means actual food, then I'd walk through a blizzard twice as bad without shoes or coat."
But enough of the cheap smalltalk. Gant like to know who he was dealing with, and having a cheerful friend like the man across the table could be another great reason to enjoy today despite the cold. "By the way, the name's Damon Gant. Er... retired Chief of Police, L.A.P.D."
