As Lightning made her way up the hall, it wasn't long at all before she broke into the natural, brisk jog demanded by the abundance of pent-up energy she had. While it couldn't help much more than the smallest amount, the rhythm of her boots on the solid floor, as hollow and eerily echoing as they were in the darkness, helped stabilize her mind and breathing. She was used to the feel of action, and moving forward down a single decided-upon path, as futile as it had the possibility to be, at least gave her the illusion of doing something.
And since there wasn't much to see in a long, narrow hallway with not even the slightest hint of light aside from the devices held by the various other prisoners - no distractions from her task - for once it seemed that even that helped.
A little bit. But at this point, she would take whatever blessing she could get.
