And here she was.

There wasn't anyone in the hall, so Anise kept her little keychain flashlight on so that she wasn't standing around in total darkness. She walked a little ways so that she was across from the entrance to the M-B Block, and then she leaned against the wall there and waited.

Hopefully, she had been fast enough not to miss her friends on their way out of the block. She didn't run into any delays on the way, though, so there was a good chance that she was just in time to catch them.

It seemed that something he had said had struck both Claude and Anise to the point that they were willing to agree with him, which left Guy feeling relieved. He realized how dangerous this decision was, but they had ultimately made it together, which meant that they were as prepared for this as they could be. Knowing that they could always turn around and leave whatever they saw down there also allowed them a comfortable safety net ( ... )

So they were all in agreement, then. Although he was still uncertain about what they would find, Claude felt better knowing they were all in this together. It meant they'd share the responsibility, for better or worse ( ... )

Her spirits lifted, Anise was back to her usual, cheery self. She understood the gravity of the situation perfectly well, but there wasn't any harm in acting optimistic. If they went into danger full of gloom and dread, they'd be in bigger trouble than if they stayed calm and kept positive ( ... )

At this point, after they had spent so much time trying to decide whether or not to head down into the basement again, Guy agreed that the faster route would be best. That would definitely mean going out onto the field, seeing how they were right by the door that would take them out. And Anise had a point: they were already dressed to bear the cold weather, so why not make use of it ( ... )
