Day 57: Chapel

Anise was actually sleeping well for once. When morning came, she was curled up on her side, her arms tightly hugging her pillow in the same way they would usually hold Tokunaga ( Read more... )

That wasn't what Kibitoshin had wanted at all.

Facing down Son Goku by dappled moonlight was, admittedly, something he'd dreamed about: how could he not? Goku was the most powerful man in the universe, everything he could ever want to aspire to be or admire in a person and more. Sparring with him would be the ultimate honour. They'd never truly had the chance back at home, and after his promise to the dragon it was likely that there would never be a chance, but even so he'd thought about it wistfully ( ... )

Damnit, why was that bastard Landel still talking?! Sechs was pretty sure he shut off that stupid radio by slamming it down to the ground the way he did that night. Despite his fury over what he heard, Sechs did fear that the force of the throw would have permanently broken his only source to the world outside the institute -- instead it seemed something far worse than his fears were realized: the radio was blaring Landel's voice non-stop ( ... )

Kibitoshin had always liked the chapel, even if he didn't fully understand the reason for its existence. There was something attractively neat and polished about it that appealed to the side of him which had all but jumped for joy when he saw his uniform hanging in his closet. It all seemed so carefully controlled and safe with its sleek lines and bright modern colours, like walking into a bubble ( ... )

No worries! sixth_attack July 7 2011, 05:21:57 UTC
Sechs' crooked grin regained some balance at the sight of Kibitoshin's own friendly response. However, a hint of pain that rivaled the Kaioshin's still lingered in Sechs' face. Becoming all the more aware of his inner discomfort, the Replica shuffled a little on the spot, moving his eyes towards the stained glass windows where he could see the growing presence of the morning sun making its way past the horizon.

"N-no, I... I get what you mean there," Sechs awkwardly replied, by then he knew that Kibitoshin just really cared about his safety, that was all. He didn't mean anything bad at all; otherwise he would not have stuck with him all this time. But the drug in his back would have none of that. Its nasty voice may have been growing fainter as the sun outside rose higher in the distance, but its words still had an effect on its host.

"See? He's scared of you!" it hissed in Sechs' ear, "And he thinks you're stupid too!"Sechs felt a spark of anger briefly ignite inside his heart, and for a sickening moment Sechs nearly found himself ( ... )

Sechs got what he meant? What were the odds of that? Not that Kibitoshin thought that the android was stupid, far from it; it was more that he usually found himself to be incapable of stringing together a coherent sentence. But that was hardly the biggest surprise for the Kaioshin. There was something about Sechs that was just so calm now, so quiet. The only time he'd seen him like this was by the activity's shed after his ordeal, and- and ( ... )

Teetering on the verge of total admonishment, Sechs stood rigidly on the spot as he awaited Kibitoshin's reaction. Sechs nearly forgot to breathe as he found himself as the prime target for Kibitoshin's stare. Was the Kaioshin shocked or angry even? For a second, Sechs began to worry that perhaps the drug was right, and that the Kaioshin wasn't going to forgive him and tell him to screw off...

Yet like the rising morning sun behind the windows, Kibitoshin's blank face brightened up into such a heartfelt smile that Sechs couldn't help but grin himself! Whether it was due to the sun or Kibitoshin's smile, Sechs could feel his own face and neck warm up, but for once it was a comforting sensation, not the usual embarrassing blush.

Victory. Sechs could feel his knotted muscles unwind and his lungs return back to their steady pace. It felt like Sechs had just won a harrowing match, even if all it had to do was say sorry. His busted ego and the malicious dark consciousness of the drug served as opponents against Sechs' new sense of ( ... )
