Day 57: Waiting Room/Lobby 1 (Fourth Shift)

Jul 05, 2011 13:00

Since her talk with Soma in the morning, Rapunzel had been afraid this moment might come. Even as she distracted herself with other things, there was a tightness knotting up inside her stomach. Even as she assured herself that she would be prepared if it happened, the feeling wouldn't pass. And now, she felt a firm hand on her shoulder, and the ( Read more... )

The mess of yarn that Gamzee had been attempting to make into, well, anything, wasn't worth taking out of the arts & crafts room with him, so he left it. He took his clown drawings, though, fully intending to decorate the walls of his room with them. The staff hadn't seemed all that pleased with them, but there apparently wasn't much danger with him having them either.

He'd wanted to see a movie in the sun room next, but apparently they had other plans for him instead. He was led into one of the waiting rooms (an area he wasn't familiar with at all) and told that he would be having a visitor stop by to see him. That was rather exciting. If it was one of his troll friends, they might better be able to explain to him what was going on and possibly tell the others where he was ( ... )

This.

Was.

Stupid. He couldn't believe he was bothering to come, much less play along with this rotten bullshit. But even he knew it was stupid to turn back now, so it was better he get in, say his piece, and get the fuck out of there before he got an assfull of whatever his friend chose to substitute for his unhealthy addiction of the crusty semen of the soft drink industry ( ... )

When the other boy first approached, Gamzee stared and tried to piece together why he was so familiar looking. (His own situation somehow didn't make the solution to this any easier to come by.) It was the voice that did it, and by the time Karkat was nearing the end of his grumbling Gamzee had made to attach himself to the front of his friend like a big, mop-haired leech. The words were irrelevant. It was nothing different than what their leader normally went on about and that was what made it all the more endearing ( ... )

Billy might as well have been attached to some kind of electrical device, because the moment he latched onto him the other visibly stiffened at the touch. Really, 'convulsed' seemed more like the proper term to use, but it wasn't all that dramatic. Really, beheaded snakes flopped more, but it was supposed to get the point across: he didn't like this. He didn't like any of this.

But while he'd attempted to wiggle away he didn't make much of a move to shove the latter off. Yet. Billy's question only seemed to feed that scowl, and the teen's eyes glared at the dead vermin that was supposedly his friend's hair.

"I thought it was obvious even to your retarded ass self. I hope you don't think they'd let us all come even if we wanted to."

It was at that point where he made an actual attempt to push Billy away, now that being in a room with several other people made the whole situation vaguely uncomfortable.

"But isn't it your lucky day. Congratulations, fuckass, all your preaches about miracles finally got you somewhere and they've all ( ... )

He knew it! Gamzee, being Gamzee, took Karkat's words at face value. He'd said his prayers every day so far. He hadn't given up on the messiahs being in this place away from Alternia, and now his faith was paying off in the return of his best friend. After everything they'd been through, it was finally paying off!

Never mind that they were in different forms now. This place wasn't so bad, all things considered.

He let himself be pushed away, still grinning widely at his friend. Even if the others couldn't come, he was happy just to see him. (And knowing the others were all right was an added bonus.) Why they wouldn't all be allowed to see him at once was still a mystery, as was why he was in there while the others weren't, but he didn't want to think too hard on any of that right now.

"I'm all kinds of motherfuckin' glad just to be gettin' my greets on with you again, bro. I done been missin' you bad."
