But perhaps he should refrain. For now. They'd only just met up again after such a long time apart! Humans could be so sensitive about touching. ZEX would never understand why.
"I've been... sleeping, more than I think I should have." ZEX frowned at the thought. "I suspect it's the institute's doing, although I have yet to determine a motive. Then again, there's a great deal going on here with little apparent motivation other than sadism." ZEX scratched at the patch over his empty socket. He strictly reminded himself not to think of how he lost it. He didn't need any reminders of that nightmarish experience right now. "Whenever I wake up, things seem to have changed again..."
ZEX decided to return his attention to more pleasant things. Namely, the luscious human walking beside him. His skin was such a lovely color. "As for you, what have you been up to? I assume you may be more aware of what's transpired in the institute recently than I am..."

"Sleep studies?" Gant knew of them, but he had been lucky enough to never get chosen for one. He nodded to show he was familiar with them, trying to keep his voice down and comments to a minimum while out in the open halls. A lot of people seemed to be traveling this way, so he felt a bit safer than if they had been in a hallway all on their lonesome. Still, Gant would rather not draw the wrong attention towards them if at all possible.
"Think they're drugging you, eh?" Gant shook his head, clicking his tongue in disgust. Horrible, wretched place, picking on a half-blind man who really was half-way there to crazyland. "Despicable place. Though it might actually be easier just to sleep the days away then deal with the horrors here." His voice was almost wistful. Almost.
He drew them further down the hall, keeping an eye open for monsters as he kept his ears open to what his companion had to say.
