He turned in a circle, glaring daggers into the darkness as he surveyed chair after couch after table. The lack of lighting put him at a

She really didn't see or hear anything.
The clear sky above allowed the tiniest bit of moonlight into the room, allowing Anise to see nearby silhouettes, even with her flashlight turned off. She supposed it might let her see movement in the room too, but for the moment everything around her was still, with the exception of her two companions.
The downside was that if there was something lurking in the shadows still, Anise and the others were more visible tonight, so they had to keep moving. While usually a chatterbox, Anise kept quiet as she walked along the side of the room.

They needed to stay alert. Sticking close to his friends, Claude kept a firm hold on his sword and silently walked. So far, so good, but...he knew they couldn't really breathe a sigh of relief until they reached those doors up ahead.
Even then, Claude had to remind himself that it wasn't unheard of for something to lurk around in the cafeteria or kitchen. And if they managed to get past those areas, there was no telling what was waiting for them in the basement. They had their work cut out for them tonight, that was for sure.

He heard someone coming in behind them, though the man escaped into one of the side rooms quickly enough. Unfortunately, they all needed to get across, and that was usually what the guards took issue with. He had his fingers crossed that they would get lucky tonight, seeing how last night they'd been stopped from getting anywhere.
He realized that Aguilar probably didn't give people breaks because of something that had happened before, but still, they did deserve one. Keeping both his breathing and his footsteps light, Guy continued to cross the room with the others.

Because when it came right down to it, reality television really was the most glorious of creations ever thought up by the Earthians! There was just something so mesmerizing about seeing a group of nobodies struggle for their lives, or watching the twisted love affairs of too many suitors pining for only one mate. Not to mention the sickening delight that came when "Nobody A" chocked down a bucket of sheep eyeballs ( ... )

Startled, Anise stopped in her tracks, putting an arm up to shield her eyes. "What!? What's happening!?" she cried. The lights had come on so suddenly that she was seeing spots, but it was like the entire atmosphere changed in an instant.
It wasn't long before the apparent cause of the strange happenings emerged before them: a blonde in a dress. Something seemed a bit off about her, but it wasn't until the person spoke that Anise realized it was a man. That just raised even more questions!
More importantly, was he a special counseling patient, or... something else? Weren't encounters like these usually really dangerous? Utterly confused by the man and his announcement, Anise took a few cautious steps back and moved in closer to her friends. "What's this supposed to be?" she whispered. "Something about dancing...? I don't really get it."

But if that wasn't weird enough, they were greeted by a man who was clearly wearing a dress, and he was acting like he was the host of some kind of... game show? Was this a Special Counseling patient? Or the military's idea of a huge joke?
Either way, Claude had no intention of sticking around. For starters, they couldn't trust that this was just a harmless competition. There was a chance their "host" would try stabbing them while he forced them into doing the tango or something equally ridiculous. And...was this seriously happening? Really?"I, uh..." Wow, what did he even say to that? "I can see we have the wrong room here. We'll just...be on our way now, sir. I mean, ma'am. I mean...you. Um ( ... )
