Badd and Byrne had separated for showering. Manly handgripping was all very well at breakfast but in the communal shower it didn't pay to seem too interested in another guy. Not in a prison

Gant had woken up late, which wasn't much of a surprise. That drug from last night probably had knocked him out pretty good, but other than that, Gant felt perfectly fine. Peachy even. And he had gotten to miss that god awful breakfast, which was always a plus in his book. Today seemed to be shower day, as he was shown graciously to the place without much comment from his military shadow. So nice to not have to deal with constant reprimands that Nurse Millie always gave him

Damn. There was no good time for Damon Gant, and this place was not a good place, but if he had to be forced into a corner with him he'd prefer to at least still have his pants on

I have a feeling Gant won't notice his own drug affects during this conversation... xD;;gargantuanlaughAugust 24 2011, 19:00:20 UTC
Gant's eyebrows raised at the honest, dangerous intent he could feel behind Badd's words. Really, what had put him in such a foul mood?
"Been running into troubles, eh?" Gant's voice was a bit more cautious this time, not nearly so jovial and teasing. He didn't want to get punched in the nose today, even if he was fairly certain Badd would get the worst of it from the soldiers if he did.
Keeping at least one shower's distance away, Gant stole the occasional glance over to the other man, trying to mind his own business but failing. Whatever could have set Badd off so strongly? Maybe he had just woken up on the wrong side of the bed. "... Kid troubles, maybe?"
Gant remembered meeting with Kay, and her claim to Yatagerasu. Maybe she had a case of hero worship to the extreme and Badd was finding himself in trouble because of it. Wouldn't surprise Gant. He always figured Badd was softer than he let on. Probably didn't know how to deal with having to play baby sitter with all the spooks about.
He hears threatening remarks from the people he's talking with xDgargantuanlaughAugust 27 2011, 06:30:30 UTC
Gant was, of course, completely unaware of any suffering that went beyond his own. He had meant for his comments to be probing but hadn't meant any harm by them. So it was completely surprising when Badd actually reacted badly to his inquiries. The accusations thrown at him normally would slide off like water on a ducks wing, but today Gant found his hackles rising. The worst of it was, he had little to say in his defense. But he was a changed man now, wasn't he? Sort of

So...he hasn't actually noticed it yet, I take it.tasteoftruthAugust 27 2011, 13:18:24 UTC
Badd's free hand crumpled into a first, and it was only the knowledge that the guards were nearby that kept him from violence. He had to think of Byrne. He'd be no good to Byrne if he was sedated and stuffed in a corner. The big picture? Who cared. The place could drown, as long as Badd saved the innocent and punished the guilty

Nope! :) He is completely oblivious~.... so fargargantuanlaughAugust 31 2011, 21:42:34 UTC
Gant's muscles slacked when Badd started babbling on about Shou. So it had been Badd all along. He was the snitch, that bastard! Gant could feel the red-hot anger rising. Thank god his tan was still pretty dark, or else me might have looked particularly tomato-ish right about then.
Placing a hand against the tiled wall to keep himself steady, Gant did all he could to keep calm. Sometimes a bit of madness seemed to shine behind his eyes when under extreme duress, and it was sparking there again, just as it had back when he had been accused of the Goodman murder. Only this time he wasn't going to leave smiling. There wasn't anything to smile about with this kind of conclusion. Not at all.
"So you're the one..." Gant's voice was low, barely perceptible, but he raised it again, accusingly. "You actually gave out that kind of information to a psychopath like Showy? That kid is serious! And you want to risk him actually doing one of his suicide murders
( ... )
It was only words, and only the lightest of blows to Gant's demeanor, but getting to finally hurt someone was satisfying. "Why not? It'd take care of two problems at once," he said with false joviality. "Two fewer psychotic monsters on the loose. If I can't get the state to give you that necktie you've had coming, I can at least ask around and see if I can get it done freelance

Badd was serious. Seriously crazy, and seriously asking for a death wish. But no, Gant couldn't do that. Or he wouldn't. No, he wouldn't let himself go that far again. If he could help it. But the chief had an awful bad track record of keeping his impulses under control. If he happened to be in the same vicinity as Badd and also in possession of his scalpels then who knew what the outcome might be
